The Siege of Canelli is a medieval event that occurred during the Monferrato War of Independence, and that is celebrated every year in June. The famous 'Festival delle Sagre' with its lively and rustic celebration of traditional rural life, is another much-loved September event, whereas the various Truffle Fairs held throughout the Monferrato area can be enjoyed during October and November every year. Asti is also a capital of culture with the 'Astiteatro' Festival of theatre, and Astimusica for music lovers, plus a rich and varied calendar of events held all summer long throughout the Monferrato. The Asti Municipality organises tours of its museums and art galleries for all tourists interested in discovering the many rare and unique exhibits they contain. Visitors can enjoy organising their own personalised tours of the town, while keeping in touch with all that Asti, the Monferrato's true 'capital' has to offer, all year round.
